During the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere, the sun has the appearance of being at a 30-degree angle of east and west when it rises and sets. Likewise, when researching the 8, we found the optimal angle for squatting ranges from 10 to 30 degrees. The gradient, also angled at 30 degrees, goes from light to dark on the midsole and back again from dark to light to mimic the sun rising and setting during the solstice.
